Dev Log #6 | End of Winter Quarter - Public Alpha
This game started out as a senior project that we intended to wrap up within the seven months of development time provided by the class. As development progressed, this game came into something we believe has the potential to be truly special. Because of this, we plan to continue the development of Splicer until it reaches a state we deem to be "finished".
With the ending of our class, our main playtesting group is no longer accessible to us, and as such we have decided to make our game publicly available despite its unfinished state. We encourage you to try out the game and either leave a comment or reach out to us with any feedback, as it not only helps us improve our game, but also grow as game developers.
Now that we've gone over the future of this game, we can jump into some of the big changes we've made that merit this being a worthwhile update to post a public version of:
- Entirely new level - continue the fight below the city in twisted halls filled with bottomless pits
- Two new limbs - Use a physics-based grappling hook to swing yourself around, and crush enemies with a stomp leg
- Smarter enemies - Enemies will attempt to reach you however they can
- QOL adjustments - New indicators when limb menus get locked during combat
- New effects - Going fast, stomping the ground, and punching enemies all now have visual and auditory feedback
- Random fixes - Adjustments to our code that make the game work better (Music stages work properly now)
Keeping this post short and sweet, I encourage you to download the game and try it out! We're gonna take a week or two to relax with the end of this quarter wrapping up before diving into development again, but after that expect big improvements and exciting new content.
